PRECIOUS LIPS – Proverbs 20 Wisdom Challenge.
PRECIOUS LIPS 💋
Like gold and a multitude of rubies, lips of knowledge are precious jewels. No matter how much lipstick you use or jewels you wear, it is the lips of knowledge whose value is highly rated like that of gold and precious jewels.
Like yesterday, read the chapter, and I will give some thoughts at the end.

PROVERBS 20
1 Wine is a mocker, but strong drink and the noise of a party deceive; so be wise.
2 The fear of a king is like the roar of a young lion. Whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.
3 The honor of a man is to cease from strife, but a fool messes with it.
4 The sluggard who will not plow because of the cold will beg in harvest time.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep waters, but a man of understanding draws it out.
6 Most men proclaim to man their own mercy, but a faithful man, who can find?
7 The righteous who walk in integrity; his children will be blessed after him.
8 The king sits on his throne of judgment and scatters away evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say to himself, my heart is clean, I am pure from sin?
10 Divers weights and divers measures, are both an abomination to the LORD.
11 A child is known by his doings whether his works are pure and right.
12 The hearing ear and seeing eye, the LORD made them both.
13 Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes that you may be satisfied with bread.
14 It’s not good, and it’s evil, says he to the owner, but when he is gone, he boasts.
15 Like gold and a multitude of rubies, lips of knowledge are precious jewels.
16 Take even the clothes of him who is surety for a stranger, and who pledges for a strange woman.
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 A purpose is established by counsel, and with good advice, make war.
19 Walk not with a talebearer who reveals secrets, or with the one who meddles and entices with her lips.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in obscure darkness.
21 An inheritance gotten hastily in the beginning will in the end not be blessed.
22 Say not, I will avenge evil, but wait on the LORD to save you.
23 Divers weights are an abomination to the LORD, and a false balance is not good.
24 The going of men are of the LORD, and it is for man to understand his way.
25 It’s a trap for man to devour what is holy, and then after the vow to inquire.
26 A wise king scatters the wicked and brings the wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, that searches the inward parts of the belly.
28 Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is upheld by mercy.
29 The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their gray head.
30 As the blueness of a wound cleanses away evil, so is an injury to the inward part of the belly.

Walk not with a talebearer who reveals secrets.

My Thoughts:
“Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” is the famous song from the 1949 Broadway musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It was famously performed by Marilyn Monroe in the 1953 film adaptation. The phrase became a cultural expression meaning that diamonds symbolize luxury, romance, glamour, and material security. 💎
The lyrics are copyrighted but not God’s word. You may know the song and even sing along, but do you know the proverbs that warn every man of the red lips and high heels? Diamonds are not a girl’s best friend, unless she is the gold digger who would sell your soul to the devil so she could wear a Cartier or a pair of Prada’s.
Like gold and a multitude of rubies, lips of knowledge are precious jewels. No matter how much lipstick you use or jewels you wear, it is the lips of knowledge whose value is highly rated like that of gold and precious jewels.
Isaiah cried out; Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then later in his life he speaks again on this matter and said: The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.
In another place it is written: I will give you a mouth with wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to refute nor resist. It is God who created mouth and it is he who fills your mouth with good things.
Let this be your declaration; I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips will be right. My mouth will speak truth, for wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness, and there is nothing contrary or perverse in them.
There is so much wisdom and knowledge to be found in God’s word concerning our lips, tongue, and mouth. We all offend in many things. If anyone offends not in word, the same is perfect and able to bridle the whole body.
The tongue is a little member and boasts of great things. It’s a fire, a world of iniquity. So is the tongue among our members, which defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire from hell.
The tongue no man can tame. It’s an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it, we bless God our Father, and with it, we curse men made in the image of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. It should not be like this.
So be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter anything before God. For God is in heaven, and you are on earth. So, let your words be few, and suffer not your mouth to cause your flesh to sin. And don’t say to the angel, “It was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands?
May the lord bless your lips, and may they be a precious jewel as precious as gold and rubies.
