THREE LITTLE PIGS – Proverbs 15 Wisdom Challenge.
THREE LITTLE PIGS
Whether children’s book still include the story of three little pigs or not I can’t tell. But most of the stories I learned as a child was based on wisdom not on fiction. So what possible wisdom can anyone learn from three little pigs?

PROVERBS 15
1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge well, but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, seeing both the evil and the good.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness destroys the spirit.
5 A fool despises his father’s instruction, but he that regards reproof is prudent.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the revenue of the wicked is trouble.
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge into the heart of the fool.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the righteous is his delight.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves them that follow after righteousness.
10 Correction is grievous to them that forsake the way; Whoever hates reproof will die.
11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD, even so the hearts of children and of men.
12 Scorners love not reproof, neither will they go to the wise.
13 A happy heart makes well the countenance, but by sorrow of the heart, the spirit is broken.
14 An understanding heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
15 All the days of the poor are evil, but a good heart has a continual feast.
16 Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, than loads of treasure with trouble.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs with love, more than juicy meat with hatred.
18 Wrathful men stir up strife, but the slow to anger appeases strife.
19 The way of the slothful is a hedge of thorns, but the way of the righteous is exalted.
20 A wise son is the joy of his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 Folly is the joy of those destitute of wisdom, but a man of understanding walks pleasingly.
22 Without counsel a purpose can be disappointed, but with a multitude of counselors it is established.
23 A man’s joy is in the answer of his mouth, and a word in season is good.
24 The way of life from above is for you to prosper, that you may depart from hell beneath.
25 While the LORD destroys the house of the proud, he establishes the borders of a widow.
26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, but with the pure are beautiful words.
27 He that is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he that hates gifts will live.
28 The heart of the righteous studies to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
30 The light in the eyes rejoices the heart, and a good report makes the bones fat.
31 The ears that hear the reproof of life abide within the wise.
32 He that refuses instruction despises his own soul, but he that hears reproof has understanding.
33 The fear of the LORD is in the instruction of wisdom, and the face of honor is in humility.

He huffed and puffed till all the straw blew off. And then he ate the little pig for breakfast.
– Three Little Pigs
My Thoughts:
Whether children’s books still include the story of the three little pigs or not, I can’t tell. But most of the stories I learned as a child were based on wisdom, not on fiction. So what possible wisdom can anyone learn from The Three Little Pigs?
In short, these three little pigs were living near a forest, and they were afraid of the big bad wolf howling every night close by. So they decided to build themselves tiny little houses so they could feel safe. Each of them chose different materials to build their tiny houses.
But one piggy was lazy and a fool and used the straw nearby to build his tiny house. Another piggy was a little more ambitious and wanted to be middle class. So he chopped some wood and used that to construct a tiny dwelling for him and Mrs. Piggy. But the third piggy was the wisest and most industrious and chose to build his tiny house from brick and mortar. And so they lived in safety and security with a tiny fence around their homes as they built their city.
But one day, the big bad wolf got angry because he was very hungry. So he stumbled upon this tiny village called Bacon Valley where these three tiny pigs were living. And when they saw the big bad wolf, they all ran scared to the safety and security of their tiny little houses. And once they were inside, they hid, hoping the big bad wolf, who was angry and hungry, would go away. But they were wrong.
Now, there was no farmer to chase off the big bad wolf into the forest, because these little pigs were wise in their own eyes and were on their nomad’s journey. So the big bad wolf, who was angry and hungry, came to the first little house made with straw, and he huffed and puffed till all the straw blew off. And then he ate the little pig for breakfast.
But by lunchtime, he was hungry again. So he went to the next tiny house made of wood. And again he huffed and puffed a little longer and stronger till all the wood flew off back into the woods to expose the tiny little pig hiding under his bed. And the big bad wolf ate his lunch like a good little boy, and was satisfied.
But, oh boy, by noon, the big bad wolf decided he wanted dinner before going off to bed. So he got ready for supper and went straight to the tiny little house the last little piggy lived in. And again he huffed and puffed like before, but nothing moved. So he huffed and puffed again with all his might and power, but the big bad wolf could not blow the tiny house away. And by sunrise the next morning, the big bad wolf was so tired that he decided to go away where he came from. And because this little piggy was wise and used the right kind of material to construct his tiny house, he not only survived but continued to live happily ever after in Bacon Valley with peace and security.
So what’s the moral of the story? The house of the proud will fall, and the house of the wicked will not stand, but the house of the righteous is blessed of the Lord. A wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her hands. And with wisdom he built his house, and hewed out seven pillars. Don’t just use whatever material you can find to build your house. You are the architect and builder of your life. With wisdom, build your life. The big bad wolf is the devil, and he will come knocking at your door with temptation and sometimes with anger. But if you build your house upon the rock, it will stand the huff and puff storms of this life. Jesus said, In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.
You are that house. You are not the house you are living in. God is building. Hebrews says he is the architect and builder of the new Jerusalem. Jesus is building. He is building his house, and you are that brick and mortar he is using to construct his church in this world to establish his kingdom. Shall persecution, famine, disaster, even death separate us from the love of God? No, nothing shall separate us from the love of God.
So as Proverbs says, the house of the righteous is full of treasure; he was not referring to today’s brands and marks. Let your house be filled with precious treasure like love, peace, wisdom, righteousness, holiness. Whatever is inside of you should be the stuff that will keep out the big bad devil who feeds on easy prey. The Bible says, ” The devil roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. If your house is weak, the devil will tear it to pieces. May the Lord strengthen you with might in your inner man. For greater is he who lives in you than he that lives in the world.
Let us no longer live as fools, for that we are his workmanship created for good works. And Jesus has become our wisdom from God, and our righteousness, our salvation, and our redemption..
