PROVERBS 22
1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and good favor more than silver and gold.
2 The rich and the poverty-stricken will both meet the LORD their maker.
3 The prudent foresees evil and hides, but the simple continues and is punished.
4 With humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, honor, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the ways of the perverse; keep your soul far from them.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender.
8 They that sow iniquity will reap vanity, and the rod of their anger will fail.
9 The bountiful eye is blessed that gives bread to the needy.
10 Drive out the scorner, for when contention goes out, strife and shame will cease.
11 He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips, the king will be his friend.
12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the transgressors.
13 The slothful say, ‘There is a lion outside! It will kill me in the street.’
14 The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit, and he that is abhorred by the LORD will fall therein.
15 Foolishness is bound up in the hearts of children, but the rod of correction drives it far from them.
16 Whoever oppresses the needy for increase, or gives to the rich, both will want.
17 Stretch your ear to hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to their knowledge.
18 And let it be pleasing to you to keep them within you, fitted for your lips.
19 That you may trust the LORD, as I have made it known to you this day.
20 I write to you excellent things in counsel and knowledge.
21 That you may know for certain the words of truth, and how to answer with words of truth them who was sent to you.
22 Do not rob not the needy because he is needy, or oppress the afflicted at the gate.
23 For the LORD will plead their cause and spoil the souls that spoiled them.
24 Make no friendship with an angry owner, and don’t go with a furious man.
25 Lest you learn his ways and get trapped in your soul.
26 Do not shake hands on sureties of debt.
27 For if you cannot pay, they will even take your bed.
28 Remove not the ancient landmarks set by the fathers.
29 Do you see the man diligent in his business? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before the obscure.

They tried to ruin his name and reputation, and when that failed the plotted his death. But it was God plan. Then God raised him up and said his name is the only name by which man can be saved.

My Thoughts:
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and good favor more than silver and gold.
Most people want to be rich and famous, but they don’t care how they get there. They will lie, cheat, steal, and whore their way to the top of the ladder of success just to find out they have entered the matrix of vanity fair and a hologram full of emptiness.
For they have not read the words of a wise man saying: A good name is better than great riches, and good favor more than silver and gold. Neither have they stretched their ears to hear the words of wisdom, or applied their hearts to knowledge. They have gone from the way of life onto the ways of Vanity Fair.
Oh, they may engage in acts of charity here and there for publicity or mingle with spirituality, but they have not heard the warning of the wise that said: There is a way that seems right, but the end of it is death.
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and good favor more than silver and gold. How precious do you think your name is? Will you also ruin your name and reputation for fame and fortune to have your best life now?
Just Google companies’ names on Trustpilot and see how many positive or negative comments a business has accumulated. Many Brands have such poor ratings that it will shock you. They have gone the way of greed and departed from customer care to a lack of concern to guard their good name. All for the love of money and to please their greedy investors willing to sacrifice favor and a good name for short-term profits. This is the way of death of a brand, death of a soul, death.
What does your name mean? Every name has a meaning. Sometimes people change their names to distance themselves from their past and to embrace a new future. This happens frequently, especially under the FBI’s witness protection program. God was the first to do this when he called a couple to become a nation: Abram became Abraham, and Sara became Sarah.
Even Saul, the persecutor of Christians, became Paul the Apostle of Christ. Saul was well spoken of among the evil gang, but he had no good reputation among the believers, whom he persecuted and killed. But it was not until he met Jesus Christ that our heavenly Father changed his name and restored his life.
So no matter your past or present, no matter if you have ruined your good name through sin, Jesus Christ can heal and restore you and give you a new name that is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. If your name was once blacklisted, now your name can be whitewashed in the blood of the Lamb. Choose to have a good name and favor rather than riches and success with a bad reputation and a name that is not found in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
