THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE

This highlights the constant battle between good and evil, between demons and angels, the wise and the foolish, and between the seed of God and the seed of the devil. You are either righteous, wicked, or a simple person void of understanding the Holy One.

Now, lets dive right into wisdom and get understanding. Like yesterday, read the chapter, and I will give some thoughts at the end.

PROVERBS 10 TEN

1 A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son is a heaviness to his mother.

2 The treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but in your righteousness you will be delivered from death.

3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish, but he casts away the substance of the wicked.

4 The poverty-stricken deals with a slack hand, but the hands of the diligent make them rich.

5 Gather in the summer, and you will prosper, my son, but if you sleep during harvest, you will be a son that shames.

6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the names of the wicked will rot.

8 The wise has a heart for his commandments, but prating fools will fall.

9 Walk uprightly, and you will walk securely, but the perverse by their ways will be known.

10 They wink with their eyes to cause sorrow, so the prating fools will fall.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins. ♥

13 On the lips of the understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of one void of understanding.

14 The wise lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the fool nears him to destruction.

15 The rich in their wealth are like a strong capital, but the destruction of the needy is in their poverty.

16 The work of the righteous is life, but the fruit of the wicked is sin.

17 The way of life is to keep instruction, but to refuse reproof is an error.

18 They hide hatred with lying lips, and utter their shame like fools.

19 In the multitude of words there is no want of sin, but he that refrains his lips will prosper.

20 The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little worth.

21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for a lack of wisdom.

22 The blessing of the LORD makes you rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.

23 It is a sport for fools to do mischief, but a man of understanding has wisdom.

24 The fear of the wicked will come on him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

25 As a whirlwind that passes, so will the wicked be, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

26 As vinegar is to teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to him that sends him.

27 The fear of the LORD prolongs your days, but the years of the wicked will be reaped.

28 The hope of the righteous is gladness, but the hope of the wicked will perish.

29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright, but destruction to the workers of iniquity.

30 The righteous will never be removed, and the wicked will not settle on the earth.

31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the froward tongue will be cut out.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is delightsome, but in the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.

My Thoughts:

This chapter is a little more difficult to comment on, as almost every verse presents a different thought, rather like a bowl of mixed salad. But it is rich in spiritual nourishment and wisdom and will help you navigate through life and all its challenges. The contrast between the righteous and the wicked is as wide as the bridge between Hades and paradise. Their mouths, their lips, the winking of their eyes, and the sign language they use to commit crimes are all evidence that wicked fools are devoid of wisdom and of the fear of God. This also highlights the constant battle between good and evil, between demons and angels, the wise and the foolish, and between the seed of God and the seed of the devil. You are either righteous, wicked, or a simple person void of understanding the Holy One.

For one, you are a wicked, unbelieving person who doesn’t fear God and wants your best life now. If needed, you will kill, cheat, lie, and steal like the devil, and do whatever is necessary to increase your wealth and power. This is why the news is full of crime reports and shocked neighbors who never thought you were capable of such evil.

Two, you are a righteous person, forgiven of your sins, and blessed by God. You no longer walk in darkness because the word of God has become a lamp to your feet, and a light to your path. You hear God’s voice, and you keep his commandments. The fear of God moved you to be baptised after you believed the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, you do good, and you hate evil with the hope of eternal life.

But if you are neither a wicked person nor a righteous child of God, then are you a prodigal, a stranger lost in a foreign land, in danger of becoming another statistic of crime everywhere? You know that you’re a sinner, yet you are comfortable in your dirty clothes and rags they call fashion? You call yourself good even though you know the wickedness of your own heart at times. You look at evil with detestation but are too complacent to give your life to Jesus and to save yourself from this evil and perverse generation and from the coming wrath of God.

Would it surprise you to know that God has favorites, and that you can be one of them? When you read the entire Bible, not just Proverbs, you discover that God is prone to bless those who follow his instructions, keep his commandments, and do what is right in his sight. God loves those who love him. We see that blessings are upon the head of the righteous. We also learn that it is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and he adds no sorrow to it. The chapter further reveals that the memory of the righteous is blessed, while the names of the wicked will rot. And if you don’t want your name to rot in hell, then ask God now to write your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and he will.
