She is cunning but lethal. Did you notice she has the same invitation as wisdom to come to her and offers pleasures forevermore for those who do. Now, lets dive right into wisdom and get understanding. Like yesterday, read the chapter, and I will give some thoughts at the end.

PROVERBS 9
Your Invitation
1 Wisdom built his house, and hewed out seven pillars.
2 He then killed an animal, mingled the wine, and furnished the table.
3 Then he sent forth his maids to cry at the high places of the city;
4 Let the simple turn in here, and to those who want understanding, she says;
5 Come! Eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mingled.
6 Forsake your foolishness, that you may live, then go the way of discernment.
The Beginning of Wisdom
7 If you correct a scorner, you will get shame; likewise rebuke the wicked for a blot.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hates you; rebuke the wise, and they will love you.
9 Give instruction to the wise, and they will be wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will increase in learning.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. And the knowledge of the Holy One is discernment.
11 So will your days multiply, and the years of your life increase.
12 And if you be wise, you are wise for yourself; but if you scorn this, you alone will bear it.
The Foolish Woman
13 A foolish woman is clamorous, simple, and knows nothing.
14 She sits not at the door of her house, but in a seat on the high places of the city,
15 Calling passersby, so she could please them on their way.
16 The simple turn to her: and to those who lack understanding, she says;
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 But they know that the dead, and all her guests, are with her in the depths of hell.
My Thoughts:
Proverbs 9 describes three scenes: a vernissage is often an open invitation for people to come and see an artist’s latest work. It also offers delicacies and wine to entice and make the moment memorable. But the main attraction is the artist and their work. Likewise, Wisdom arrives, builds his house, then plans a vernissage to welcome all the simple ones to come and dine at its table of goodies that will make you wise and give you discernment. A simple invitation open to the simple to change so they can live.
This is followed by: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fear God, and you will live. He will even lengthen your days, so you don’t have to die young and stupid.
And finally we arrive at the home of the foolish woman. She is cunning but lethal. Did you notice she has the same invitation as wisdom to come to her and offers pleasures forevermore for those who do. But a wise man with discernment, who has left his foolish ways behind, noticed that this woman’s guests are with the dead. And they don’t even know it. So they end up in hell together, the service provider and the client.
