PROVERBS 2

1 My son, my daughter, receive my words and hide my commandments within you.

2 Incline your ear to my wisdom, and stretch your heart to my understanding.

3 Cry out for discernment, and lift your voice for understanding.

4 Seek it as silver, and search for it as for a hidden treasure.

5 That you may understand the fear of the LORD, and to find the knowledge of God.

The Lord Gives Wisdom

6 For the LORD gives wisdom; And out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

7 He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous; and he is a buckler to them that walks right.

8 He keeps the path of judgment and preserve the way of the godly.

9 That you may understand righteousness, judgment, equity, and the good path.

10 Let wisdom enter into your heart, and let my knowledge be pleasant to your soul.

11 For discretion will preserve you, and understanding will keep you,

Wisdom Delivers The One That Has It.

12 To deliver you from the way of evil men who speak froward things,

13 Who leaves the path of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness.

14 They are happy in doing evil, and they spin for joy in the frowardness of the wicked.

15 Their ways are perverse, and they are froward in their paths.

16 To deliver you from strange women and strangers who flatter you with words,

17 Who forsook the guides of their youth, and forgot their covenant with God.

18 Their house inclines to death; their paths to the dead.

19 They who go to them will not return to take hold of the path of life.

20 But you, walk in the way that is good and keep on the path of the righteous.

21 For the right will settle in the land, and the perfect will remain in it.

22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors uprooted.

My Thoughts:

Proverbs was written by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived until Jesus came along. Jesus became our wisdom when we accepted Christ into our hearts. Here, a father addresses his son, who was trained to be the head of the home and family and needed to be taught lessons that would make him wise. Solomon got his wisdom from God. I also found that he quoted the psalms written by David, his father.

My key scripture is verse 6: For the LORD gives wisdom; Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. Here we have the source of wisdom. Not your professor at university or teacher at school. God is the source of wisdom. Thus, the bible calls those who reject and deny God fools. There are a lot of educated fools running around on campuses trying to teach students knowledge. But here we learn there is another kind of knowledge that education cannot teach you. This wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from God.

This knowledge will deliver you from evil people and from falling into sexual sin with a stranger. Why don’t you trust God to save you from a relationship that will cause you pain and misery?

So, cry out for discernment, and lift your voice for understanding. Seek it as silver, and search for it as for a hidden treasure. That you may understand the fear of the LORD, and to find the knowledge of God

“Pandora’s Box of Poems is a sacred and peculiar book, sealed with pages filled with ancient wisdom and satire, for lovers of poetry.”

What’s inside? You want to know? Take a peek; don’t be afraid. Do you dare to open it when they tell you, “Don’t open Pandora’s box”?
