PROVERBS 8

1 Wisdom cries out, and understanding adds her voice.

2 They stand at the top of high places, in the way to your house, and on your path.

3 They shout for joy at your gates, and at the entrances of your city as you come in through the doors.

4 You men, I am calling you; and my voice is to the sons of men.

5 For the simple ones to understand cleverness, and for fools to have an understanding heart.

6 Hear, for I speak excellent things; and the opening of my lips is in all fairness.

7 My palate speaks truth, but wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 The words of my mouth are righteousness, without the contradictions of the perverse.

9 They are plain to them who understand, and for the right who finds knowledge.

10 Receive my instruction more than silver, and my knowledge more than choice gold.

11 Wisdom is even better than rubies; and all the things you desire cannot compare to it.

12 Wisdom settles you with cleverness to find knowledge and discretion.

13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. Therefore, pride, arrogance, evil ways, and the froward mouth I hate.

14 My counsel is wisdom, and my discernment strength.

15 By me kings reign, and lawgivers decree justice.

16 By me princes rule, and nobles judge in the earth.

17 I love them that loves me;

 Seek me early, and you’ll find me.

18 Riches and honor are with me; enduring riches and righteousness.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yeah, than fine gold, and my revenue, than choice silver.

20 I will lead you in the way of righteousness, amid the paths of judgment.

21 LOVE ME, and you will inherit substance; I will fill up your treasures.

Creation not Evolution

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works.

23 I set everlasting from the beginning, before the earth existed.

24 Before the depths were brought forth, or the fountains abounded with water, I am.

25 Before the mountains were settled, and the hills were brought forth, I am.

26 I made the outside of the earth, and shook dust over the world.

27 I prepared the heavens with the Lawgiver, as he circled the face of the deep.

28 I established the clouds above and strengthened the fountains of the deep.

29 I gave the sea its decree, and the waters did not pass, for it was the commandment of the Lawgiver at the foundation of the earth.

30 I am by his side, as one brought up with him; I am daily his delight, rejoicing always before him.

31 I rejoiced at the habitable parts of his earth, and my delights, are with the sons of men.

32 Listen to me, my children, and you will be blessed, when you keep my ways.

33 Hear my instructions; be wise, and refuse it not.

34 Blessed are they who hear me who watch daily at my Gate, and who wait at my door.

35 Find me, and you will find life, and obtain the delight of the Lord.

36 But if you sin, you wrong your own soul; and when you hate me, you love death.

My Thoughts:

Meet Wisdom. As kids, you used to play treasure hunting on paper or in real life. Magazines also liked to include games like find the blue bunny in some rabbithole full of blue elephants in the room. Then you start searching and finally you spot the blue bunny behind the ear of a blue elephant performing cicus tricks. It was fun and still is no matter how old you get. But here wisdom wants you to find him, so you can become a wise young man or a wise old man.

The Bible does not say if Solomon was an average student or A+ student before God granted him his wish. He was not a gifted child when he was born, but he did receive the gift of wisdom that made him a gifted person whose wisdom principles found in the book of Proverbs still shapes minds all over the world.

Daniel and his three friends were ten times wiser than all the wise men of Babylon. Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived, even wiser than Einstein and all the sage kids you know. Intelligence is not wisdom. You can be intelligent and still be a fool. But a wise person can never be a fool.

It seems that wisdom is everywhere, calling the simple to come and get wisdom. That is why schools and universities exist today. It is to teach the simple and to give understanding to the prudent. And over time, you become an expert in your field or a fool with education because you rejected the fear of the Lord. It’s better to be wise than a fool. For the bible says, whoever says there is no God is a fool.

If we ask God for wisdom, he will give it to us. God wants people to be wise. Wisdom was with God when he created the heavens and the earth. God used wisdom in all his creation; therefore, mankind’s ultimate goal is not to get to Mars but to understand how things work. How the sun sets in the west and how it rises again in the east. We study dead bodies so we can treat live people with care. We dissect frogs, plant seeds in cups, and watch it grows because our curiosity needs answers. It is part of our DNA. Yet many people, including educated professors, look at creation and still think man evolved from monkeys. But one day they will stand and find out that God is no one’s baboon. You were carefully knitted together in your mother’s womb. Even before you were born, God already knew you.

Love wisdom, and you’ll love yourself. But if you sin, you love death. Don’t love death. Love God, and then you will really love life.
