PROVERBS 7

My son, keep my words and lay up my commandments within you.

2 Keep my commandments, and you will live, and my laws as the apple of your eye.

3 Mark them with your fingers, and write them on the table of your heart.

4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call discernment your relative.

5 For they will keep you from the strange woman and from the stranger that flatters you with their words.

The Prostitute

6 From the window of my house, I looked out from my lattice, and I saw a simple one.

7 And I discerned that this youth was a young man void of understanding.

8 Passing through the street to the corner, so he went the way to her house.

9 In the twilight of the evening, in the black dark of the night.

10 To meet a woman dressed as a harlot; subtle in heart.

11 She is as loud as she is stubborn, for her feet do not settle in her home.

12 Right now she is outside; right now she is in the street and lies in wait at the corner.

13 Then she catches and kisses him, and with an impudent face she says to him;

14 I have peace offerings, and today I will pay my vow.

15 I brought it forth and met you; I was seeking a face, and I have found you.

16 I decked my bed with coverings carved with fine linen from Egypt.

17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come with me and let us fill ourselves with love till morning, and arouse our passions.

19 For the man of the house is gone on a long journey,

20 And has taken a bag of money with him, and will return home on the appointed day.

21 Thus she stretched him, and with flattering lips she persuades him.

22 Immediately he went after her as an ox goes to the slaughter, and as a fool to the correction stocks.

23 But a dart will strike his liver like a bird that hurried into a trap, and knew not that it was for its life.

24 Listen my child, attend to the words of my mouth.

25 Let not your heart go off into her way, and stray not onto her path.

26 For she has cast down many slain, even the strong she has killed.

My Thoughts:

Eve was tempted by the snake and the she used her charms to persway her husband too. And when Adam disobeyed the commandment of God not to eat of the tree of good and evil, they lost their lives and they died. Spiritually they died, and now the body was soon to follow in a fallen world. Even if you don’t want to think about it, sin has consequences and a prostitute on the prowl has taken the lives of many men to hell.
