PARENTHOOD – Proverbs 17 Wisdom Challenge.

PARENTHOOD

Parenthood is the most coveted blessing of family life. You grow up in a family and a family life means one gets to continue the family heritage. Its worth more than a painting, a crown jewel, or a established brand because it’s alive and carries your DNA.

Like yesterday, read the chapter, and I will give some thoughts at the end.

PROVERBS 17

1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of sacrifices and strife.

2 A prosperous servant will rule over a son who causes shame and will share in the inheritance with the family.

3 As the refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, so the LORD proves the heart.

4 Evil doers heed to false lips, and liars have an ear for naughty tongues.

5 Whoever mocks the poverty-stricken reproaches his Maker, and happiness over another’s calamity will not go unpunished.

6 Grandchildren are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father.

7 Excellent speech is not attractive to fools, much less lying lips for a prince.

8 A gift is as a precious stone to the eyes of its owner which turns into prosperity.

9 He that covers a wrong seeks love, but to repeat a matter separates friends.

10 Reproof enters into the wise more than a hundred stripes to a fool.

11 In evil they seek rebellion, but cruel messengers are sent against them.

12 Let a bereaved bear meet a man, than a fool in his folly.

13 If you return evil for good: evil will not depart from your house.

14 The beginning of strife is as the release of water. So hold back contentions before it escalates.

15 To justify the wicked, and to condemn the righteous, are both an abomination to the LORD.

16 Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to possess wisdom, who has no heart for it?

17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

18 A man void of under- standing shakes hands and becomes surety in the presence of his friend.

19 Whoever loves strife loves transgression, and whoever exalts their gate seeks destruction.

20 A perverse heart finds no good, and a perverse tongue falls into mischief.

21 A couple who begets a fool does it to their own sorrow, for the parents of a fool have no joy.

22 A happy heart does well like medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

23 The wicked take a gift into their bosom to stretch the way of judgment.

24 Wisdom is before them who has understanding, but the eyes of fools are at the ends of the earth.

25 A foolish son grieves his father to the bitterness of his mother that gave birth to him.

26 To punish the righteous is not good. No, nor to strike princes for their uprightness.

27 The one who has knowledge spares his words, and to have understanding is to be of an excellent spirit.

28 Even a fool who holds his peace is counted wise, and the ones who shut their lips have understanding.

Parenthood

Babies pee, and toddlers poo,

While kids cry, and siblings whine,

But not until teens grow up,

To become moms and dads,

Will they ever understand as adults,

The joy and sorrows of parenthood.

So, love and honor your parents,

Not to be alone, far from home,

Who will move heaven and earth,

To love, protect, and to provide,

For you, and your little ones.

For such is the circle of life,

Complete in one happy family.

My Thoughts:

Parenthood is the most coveted blessing of family life. You grow up in a family and a family life means one gets to continue the family heritage. Its worth more than a painting, a crown jewel, or a established brand because it’s alive and carries your DNA.

Here are some personal notes and observations on Parenthood:

Good Parents Great Kids from Notes

1 A father who spares the rod hates his son, but discipline reveals love. For the rod and reproof gives wisdom, but a rebellious child shames his mother.

2. Children learn by observation. Teach them well.

3. Teach kids to be responsible without supervision.

4. If evil men give good gifts to their kids, how much more will a good God not give good things to you when you ask him?

5. Kids are like dogs; all they want is love and food.

6. Parenthood is life’s most prized blessing.

7. Family values and principles guide and protect children.

8. Parents must support each other’s authority and decision-making to discourage rebellion at home.

9. Schools ought to equip kids for the workplace, but instead, they dismantle morality, sexuality, and the faith of children.

10. Chasten your son while there is still hope, and do not let your soul spare for his crying.

11. Parent’s responsibility is to train up a child in the way he should go.

12. Do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the fear of the Lord.

13. For the hidden dangers of psychiatry on kids, check out CCHR.org.

14. When you correct your child with the rod, he will not die. But you will deliver his soul from hell.

15. Do not shout at your kids. They will learn that shouting back is normal.

16. Get down to their level and talk to them face to face.

17. Time Out is the kid’s time for reflection on misbehavior.

18. Channel your child’s energy into constructive activities.

19. You are your kid’s hero. Don’t be the villain.

20. Parents also need to acknowledge their wrong and apologize.

21. Do not burden your kids with your adult issues.

22. Don’t let past failures stop you from teaching your child values and morals that are worth more than gifts or gold.

23. Label your child with positive affirmations.

24. A just man walks in his integrity, and his kids will be blessed.

25. Pray that God will protect your child from all evil.

26. Give your kids space when they are angry.

27. Kids learn by acting out what they see and hear around them. Be the perfect role model.

28. Parenting is a challenge. Forgive yourself. Trust your decisions as you learn and grow wiser.

29. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

30. Every parent is a doctor, teacher, guardian, and friend.

31. Kids excel in life because they are loved and supported at home. If the home is a mess, so will your kid be.

32. The success of any family is the bond they share.

33. Correct your son, and he will bring rest and joy to your soul.

34. Kids are known by their deeds if they are pure and right.

35. The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he that begets a wise child will have joy.

36. Rewarding bad behavior makes you part of the problem.

37. The Super Nanny Series has great parenting tips, skills, and advice for struggling parents.

38. Parents, if you do not listen to your kids, they will do the same to you.

39. Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from them.

40. Show respect and teach your child the same.

41. Kids have a right to a parent’s love and respect.

42. Kids scream because they are happy, but parents yell because they are angry.

43. Planned Parenthood will steal your dream to become a proud parent. Then send you home childless, while they profit from blood money from the sales of your baby’s body parts.
