LIFE AND DEATH – Proverbs 18 Wisdom Challenge.
LIFE AND DEATH
Parenthood is the most coveted blessing of family life. You grow up in a family and a family life means one gets to continue the family heritage. Its worth more than a painting, a crown jewel, or a established brand because it’s alive and carries your DNA.
Like yesterday, read the chapter, and I will give some thoughts at the end.

PROVERBS 18
1 Desire will separate you to seek and engage in wisdom.
2 But a fool will not delight in understanding, lest his heart discover itself.
3 When the wicked come, so comes contempt with humiliation and shame.
4 The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, but the wellspring of wisdom is like a flowing brook.
5 It’s not good to accept a wicked person, or to stretch the righteous in judgment.
6 When a fool’s lips enter into contention, his mouth calls for a beating.
7 The destruction of fools is their mouths, for their lips trap their soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are wounds that go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9 The slothful worker is a brother to a wasteful owner.
10 The name of the LORD
is a strong tower,
the righteous run into it and are safe.
11 The rich in their wealth are as the strength of a capital, and with high walls in their conceit.
12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty;
but before honor is humility.
13 To answer a matter before you hear it is folly and shame.
14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in his infirmity, but a wounded spirit, who can bear?
15 The heart of the prudent possesses knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek knowledge.
16 A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.
17 The first to present their case seems righteous, until their neighbor comes to examine them.
18 A lot ends contentions and parts the mighty.
19 A brother offended is like a strong capital, and their contentions as the bars of a castle.
20 A man’s belly is satisfied by the fruit of his mouth, and by the increase of his lips he is filled.
21 Life and death are in the power of the tongue
They that love it will eat its fruit.
22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.
23 The poverty-stricken uses entreaties, but the rich answers fiercely.
24 Man, one to another, are evil doers, but a beloved cleaves closer than a brother.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue
– Proverbs
My Thoughts:
Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Is this true? Is it possible that whatever comes out of your mouth affects you, your family, and your neighbor?
Men and women continue to search for the ultimate power for various reasons. Politicians want it to rule over others; feminists want it out of rebellion against God’s order of things; and sportsmen want it for the covetous gold medal.
But ordinary folk looking for power go to the gym for a normal day’s workout. They build their muscles, and in their posture, they find their community and self-confidence. They also learn the value of regular exercise that brings results over time and doesn’t happen overnight. But those who want to be rich or strong in a short space of time quickly run into problems that will cost them everything, including their souls.
But now, God has revealed to you that life and death are in the power of the tongue. You know that sticks and stones can break bones and that words can hurt you deeply. Why is that? Because life and death are in the power of the tongue of the one who uses it. It all depends on who the speaker is and what is in his heart. For out of the heart the mouth speaks. And a good word can bring peace, but a bad report crushes the spirit. Likewise, the words you speak or hear can build confidence or escalate fear and worries.
When a king speaks, he transgresses not with his mouth in judgment. The same can be said about judges. Whether you like it or not, they have the final say in a matter That means sometimes they can give a lenient sentence or the death penalty. Such is the power of kings when they speak. People are subject to the king’s orders. Whoever opposes the king’s authority faces his wrath and power. But one who speaks well of the king will be the king’s friend.
But you say, I’m not a king. Are you not? The bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. You have a tongue, don’t you? Your words that you speak every day have power. Influencers use their gift to influence people, and whatever they say, people buy into. But you say I am not an influencer. But the bible says life and death are in the power of your tongue. Whoever loves to use it will eat the fruit of his mouth. Did not Jesus say, whatever you bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven? And did he not also say that whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven? This power and authority in his name was not given to unbelievers. But whoever believes in his word and do those things which he said shall be blessed. Therefore, the Lord has established that you are a king in his kingdom, and he has granted you power and authority over princes, and principalities, and powers of the air to bind and to loose with the power of your tongue.
Witches understand this in the dark realms who provoke demons through spells and chants to curse people with bad luck, with accidents, with sickness, even disasters. They use their tongues for evil, but it has no power over the children of God. For in the name of Jesus, you can break their spells over you and your family because life and death are in the power of your tongue. Therefore, Paul wrote and said, blessing and curses should not come out of the same mouth. Don’t curse a person to hell when you can pray for their soul to be saved. Even Jesus said; Bless and curse not. He never cursed a man. But see what happened when he cursed the fig tree. Overnight it withered and died. Life and death were in the power of his tongue.
Some Christian churches understand this, and they call those things that are not as though it exists. It is called faith. Faith is not a visible force but a supernatural ability to see something before it happens. It doesn’t wait for it to happen before they praise God. No, they thank God in advance, and then God does it, because their faith pleases him.
This is why God hates gossip and lies. It destroys the people you aim it at. There are people that will even go as far as to falsely accuse someone of a crime they never committed. This is why Proverbs says, The first to present their case seems righteous, until their neighbor comes to examine them.
Words can heal, and words can wound. Words can build, and words can destroy. In your mouth there is power. By your confession, you are saved or condemned to hell. Romans says, if you confess the Lord Jesus Christ with your mouth and believe in your heart, you will be saved. So whoever will call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is saved. Let his name be your strong tower; let his name be your power and authority.
Life and death are in the power of your tongue. The words that you speak are recorded. If you speak by faith, you can have whatever you say. If you tell a mountain to be lifted up and be cast into the sea, it shall be done. Jesus said, ” Whatever you ask the Father in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified..

“Pandora’s Box of Poems is a sacred and peculiar book, sealed with pages filled with ancient wisdom and satire, for lovers of poetry.”
What’s inside? You want to know? Take a peek; don’t be afraid. Do you dare to open it when they tell you, “Don’t open Pandora’s box”?.
